UPFA Councillor of the Peliyagoda Urban Council, Chamila Sandaruwan
was found shot dead on Monday morning inside a vehicle. The shooting had
occurred at about 11.15 a.m. on Monday.
The Police Media Spokesperson says that an individual who accompanied the Urban Councillor is in a critical condition and is receiving treatment at the National Hospital in Colombo.
The Police Media Spokesperson says that the shooting was carried out by suspects travelling on a motorcycle who had then fled the scene. He added that five police teams will are conducting investigations into this incident.
The shooting had occurred about 100 metres from the Tire Junction on the Old Kandy Road towards Kelaniya.
UPFA Councillor of the Peliyagoda Urban Council contested the local government polls in 2011 and was placed sixth in the electorate.
